ContinU Plus Academy

Outreach

Purpose

The purpose of The ContinU Plus Academy Outreach Team is to provide targeted, early intervention for pupils who are at risk of permanent exclusion or fixed-term suspensions.

The second core aim of our team is to support sustainable reintegration of CPA pupils into mainstream education. Our Outreach aims to support pupils’ emotional, social, and

behavioural needs while working collaboratively with the home school.

Why Schools need us?

We offer six-week programmes in five key areas of SEMH. We provide high quality tracking

and reporting for home schools to use with their own staff.

‘We will work it out’

Our staff will aim to work out what is going wrong for vulnerable pupils and communicate strategies that could turn things around within the home school context. We will provide the home school high quality documentation that demonstrates effective inclusion and care within a home school setting.

Our service and staff are quality assured by Ofsted and DBS checked. Our staff will support home schools

  • The Outreach team will provide weekly one-to-one sessions for identified pupils who are at risk of permanent exclusion or fixed-term exclusions.
  • Each session will last 30 minutes.
  • Each school is allocated four pupil facing sessions which should be organised to run concurrently.
  • Each outreach worker will have one hour allocated per school to report on or to discuss progress with the home school.
  • A weekly tracker will be made available to the home school link prior to the following session. (Appendices 2)
  • Upon the completion of each intervention an Outreach focus (appendices 3) report which will outline the impact of the intervention, strategies for home school use and a summation of the safeguarding concerns. If any safeguarding concerns arise, the home school will be alerted immediately or after the session.
  • Each pupil will access outreach support for a six-week block.

What the Outreach Team Requires from the Home School:

A completed Outreach pupil referral form a week prior to the start of the intervention.

Safeguarding and Professional Standards

  • The outreach team will follow all safeguarding policies and procedures in line with statutory guidance.
  • Any safeguarding concerns will be shared promptly with the home school’s designated safeguarding lead (DSL).
  • The outreach service works in partnership with the home school and does not replace the school’s safeguarding responsibilities.
