School Counsellor
Supporting Student Wellbeing: School Counselling Service
We are committed to supporting the emotional health of our pupils through our partnership with external professional services.

Our Counsellor: Mark Thresh
We are pleased to host Mark Thresh, a professional counsellor who visits The ContinU Plus Academy once a week. Mark works with pupils on a one-to-one basis to help them develop emotional resilience and more helpful approaches to everyday situations.
How the Practice Works
Mark uses a Humanistic (Person-Centred) approach, based on the work of psychologist Carl Rogers. This method focuses on several core beliefs:
-
You are Unique: Every student has an innate capacity to grow and make positive changes.
-
Perspective Matters: We focus on how you experience events, as this influences your self-esteem and confidence.
-
The Student is the Expert: We believe you are the best expert on your own life. The counsellor does not give advice or "fix" problems, but helps you find your own solutions.
-
A Safe Space: The counsellor provides a space to reflect and clarify your thoughts, enabling you to discover the right course of action for a fulfilling life.
